The Team
Lindsey Paulette
Writer and Director
Richmond, Virginia raised and longtime lover of the arts. Lindsey’s background is in theatrical performance, directing, and production design. She began her career as a playwright, director, and crew hand before transitioning into film. She is a published playwright, novelist, and poet. When it comes to film she specializes in writing, directing, cinematography, and producing. She also works as a certified makeup artist in her free time.
Sam Ratliff
Producer
After wandering around in the arts realm for almost a decade, Sam has finally found her home in film. She is the founder of New Surge Productions, an organization providing production opportunities to aspiring and current filmmakers within the Richmond community. She has an extensive background in the commercial world, working with brands such as Facebook and Sabra. Sam anticipates entering production full-time upon graduating from VCU in the spring.
Producer
In summer 2021, Julia graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a double major in Creative and Strategic Advertising and Minor in Dance. While in school, Julia helped form New Surge Productions- VCU's first production agency that focuses on providing visibility, networking opportunities, and scholarships to underrepresented groups in the industry. Nowadays, you can find Julia producing for humanstory films, a micro-documentary production agency in Richmond, VA.
Julia Bruski
Joseph Puccio
Director of Photography
In his rural hometown of Rocky Mount, Virginia, Joseph co-founded the video production company, Picket Fence Productions, with a goal to get himself and his community more involved in the world of filmmaking. From commercial videos and weddings to music videos and short films, Picket Fence and Joseph alike have had a diverse couple years of business and continue to grow with each new project. Since relocating to Richmond, Virginia in 2020, Joseph has taken on many opportunities to learn and expand as a filmmaker. Through titles such as screenwriter, director, producer, actor, assistant director, director of photography, and more, Joseph is determined to understand the inner mechanisms of Cinema in order to expand both his knowledge and his portfolio. He states, “What makes filmmaking so great is collaboration. I’ve been blessed to meet artists who hold a desire to create. The only thing better than having them as colleagues, is having them as friends.”
Liam Chafin
Head of Documentary Team
The founder, lead creator, technician, photographer and videographer for Roaring Run Productions. He attends Virginia Commonwealth University getting his Bachelor’s degree in Cinema and has been on a crew for a variety of short films being a 2nd Assistant Camera, DIT, and editor. He has a passion for helping other people make their vision come true through the services he provides. He hopes to one day start his own media network that showcases different genres of music, movies, and podcasts.
Colton Johnson
1st Assistant Director
Colton is a VCU cinema student interested in production. While he has experience writing, directing, and working as DP, he really enjoys producing because it's a perfect blend of business and creativity.
